🎙️Behind the Mic : Sudo’s Note🎙️
Happy early Thanksgiving to my US listeners! While you’re prepping for your meal tomorrow, consider this: our digital privacy is under constant negotiation, often through sneaky user interface tactics called Dark Patterns.
The struggle to remain private online can sometimes be frustrating. I know I used to get irritated and just turn off my VPN, but now I lean into the friction. If a business demands my data more than it wants my money, I simply move on.

🕵️The Deep Dive
Your Top 3 Actionable Tactics

This episode was packed with powerful information. Here are three things you can do right now to protect your digital identity, straight from the show:
1. Outsmart Browser Fingerprinting
Your unique combination of fonts, screen resolution, and browser settings creates a trackable digital ID. You have two main options:
Option A (Blend In): Use a highly common, default browser (like standard Chrome) with no extensions. The goal is to look like everyone else.
Option B (Fight Back): Switch to a privacy-focused browser like LibreWolf (for desktop) or Orion/Brave (for mobile) which actively obscures your details.
2. Fight Back Against Data Brokers
These companies collect everything from your past income (The Work Number) to court filings (LexisNexis). You can manually opt-out of some of the biggest players.
Action: Find the direct links to opt-out of The Work Number and LexisNexis in the episode's show notes. (Or use a service like Incogni or DeleteMe if you lack the patience!)
3. Ditch the "Free" Email Service
Remember: "If you aren't paying for the service, you are the product." Google is now requiring AI scanning of your Gmail for basic features like spellcheck—a classic example of "Privacy Zuckering."
Recommendation: Check out ProtonMail or Tuta Mail. They are highly-recommended, privacy-by-default email providers that operate on a completely different business model.

Sudos got jokes: Why did the security expert break up with the network administrator?
She said he kept logging all her feelings.
